County veterans office staff reported routine client-service activity and community outreach at the Nov. 24 Chippewa County Department of Veteran Affairs Committee meeting.
John Miller told the committee the office was open for 28 days between Oct. 28 and Nov. 24, 2025, and received roughly 63 in-person visits and about 330 phone calls during the period. Miller said he conducted several home visits for veterans unable to come into the office and attended Veterans Day ceremonies at Sault Area High School and Rudyard High School.
The minutes note that Operation Green Light was observed locally, with the Chippewa County Courthouse and the Cloverland Electric powerhouse illuminated in green to support veterans. The Disabled American Veterans (DAV) vehicle program was described as "very active," credited to volunteer drivers and the local DAV chapter. The minutes also record that no Michigan Veterans Trust Fund (MVTF) applications were received in November and that $150 in food assistance was recorded for the period.
