Chippewa County veterans committee approves $50 MVAA food assistance, reviews Memorial Day outreach

Miller said staff conducted three home visits for veterans unable to come to the office, and that all Memorial Day flags were distributed to organizations and volunteers across county cemeteries. Miller attended the Memorial Day ceremony in Detour Village on May 26, 2025, and the office hosted a VBA hearing for a local veteran on May 27, 2025. The committee noted that the DAV transportation program is operating well and recognized a volunteer luncheon for drivers held May 27, 2025 at Elks Lodge #552, sponsored by Iron Mountain Medical and the local DAV chapter.
On formal business, the committee approved its agenda (motion moved by Robert Savoie, supported by Brooks Partridge) and accepted the April 29, 2025 minutes (motion moved by Robert Savoie, supported by Brooks Partridge), both carried by voice vote. The committee reviewed MVAA grant distributions totaling $50 and approved the allocation; the entire $50 was recorded as Food Assistance, with Advertisement, Transportation, Emergent Relief and Part‑time Compliance Officer/Project Director listed at $0.
