Chippewa County Road Commissioners approve payroll, vouchers and minutes; get staff updates

The Board of Chippewa County Road Commissioners at its Oct. 9 meeting approved routine financial and procedural items and received staff updates on winter preparations and local projects.
Commissioners Sprague and Moser moved and seconded motions to accept the meeting agenda, approve payroll of $182,231.89 and vouchers totaling $456,273.39 for payment from the County Road Fund subject to audit, and approve the Sept. 25, 2025 regular meeting minutes; each motion was recorded as "MOTION CARRIED." The minutes do not include roll-call tallies.
Staff reports followed. Foremen reported ditching and culvert replacement work on Balson Road and the completion of a 6-foot culvert on Betsy River Road, along with preparatory winter activities such as snow-marker placement and ice-sand staging. Engineer Boileau said construction season is officially over and crews are finishing a punch list for Chub Creek Bridge, which he said "should be reopened next week." Chief Mechanic Frank Marsh said crews are preparing the last three state trucks for winter service.
Public and commissioner remarks were brief. County Commissioner Jim Traynor said he will be absent at the next meeting for knee surgery. In closing, Chairman Jeremy Gagnon told attendees to "stay safe," and the meeting was adjourned at 8:28 a.m.
The board did not vote on any ordinances or award contracts at this session; procurement actions will return for formal award after bidding.
