Council tables budget amendment, postpones stadium roof bid; city awarded $40K stormwater grant

On Nov. 25 the Miles City Council elected to table Resolution No. 4655, a proposed amendment to the FY2025–2026 final budget to increase budgeted amounts for various unbudgeted revenues and expenditures. Councilmember Brooke Bartholomew moved to send the resolution to the Finance Committee for further review and explanation; the motion passed with unanimous recorded support from the six members present.
Earlier in the meeting Council President Brant Kassner postponed the Connors Stadium roof bid award so the Finance Committee can review new information at its Dec. 3 meeting. Public Works Director Samantha Malenovsky told council the department is short of matching funds for the project and is working with the city clerk to identify $30,000 in required local match.
Malenaovsky also announced the city received a $40,000 grant to study stormwater systems and drainage issues after heavy rainfall; council asked whether a match is required and Malenovsky said she would check the paperwork. Interim Fire Chief Eddy Kanduch announced the Toy Dance on Dec. 14 at the Event Center, saying 370 children are being helped by the event.
