The Miles City Council reviewed a boundary retracement for the Wilderness Area/Honda Trails on Oct. 28 after landowners erected fences that encroach on parcels the city identifies as city-owned. Corey Wilhelm presented a brief overview explaining the retracement is necessary because some landowners were uncertain about which parcels belong to the city.
Public Works Director Samantha Malenovsky said the purpose is to clarify the city’s property lines so residents can see where fences and improvements are located relative to city land; plats will be available for council review at the meeting. Councilmember Rick Huber asked whether the area is a park; Wilhelm retracted that characterization and the minutes state the land is city property rather than a park. City Attorney Dan Rice stated the item was provided for council review and to keep council informed.
The minutes do not record a formal council action on the retracement; the discussion was informational and intended to clarify ownership for adjacent property owners.
