Chippewa County Road Commission approves $186,533.68 payroll and $257,550.07 in vouchers; authorizes MDOT signature and MERS military-service reporting

At its May 22 meeting the Board of Chippewa County Road Commissioners approved payroll and vouchers, authorized MDOT signature authority and adopted a MERS military service contribution certification.
Commissioner Moser moved and Commissioner Sprague seconded a motion to approve payroll in the amount of $186,533.68 and vouchers in the amount of $257,550.07 to be paid from the County Road Fund subject to audit; the motion carried. Office Manager Livermore (via Clerk Amber McLean) noted that major accounts payable expenditures included Blue Cross, new truck payments and the CRASIF quarterly charge.
On a separate motion, the board authorized the chairman and members to sign the MDOT Engineer Reimbursement annual request; the motion passed. The board also authorized Chairman Gagnon to sign the Employer Resolution establishing military service contribution requirements for MERS. The resolution continues the commission’s prior practice of reporting "base wages" and fronting the cost of an employee’s contribution during deployment, with the employee responsible for catching up missed contributions on return; a signed certification was required by MERS.
All motions recorded in the minutes carried; the clerk’s minutes do not show a roll-call tally for each vote. The meeting adjourned at 8:14 A.M., with Chairman Gagnon wishing attendees to "stay safe."
