Vice-Chair Tim Nemecek called the Charlevoix County Materials Management Planning Committee (MMPC) to order at 10:00 a.m. June 26 at the Shirley Roloff Center and, citing multiple absences including the DPA representative Mathew Cooke, forwent the regular agenda and deferred all agenda items to the committee's July 24, 2025 meeting.
The committee recorded several members present and a vacancy for the composting facility seat. County staff in attendance included Lora Roberts, Kiersten Stark and Josh Cline. Vice-Chair Nemecek said he intends to ask on July 24 that his May 29 absence be changed from “absent” to “excused.”
Janie McNabb reported that the committee's survey has been released and relayed Mathew Cooke's plan to attend outreach events and post the survey on social media. Annemarie Conway offered to promote the survey from the Networks Northwest merchandise tent at Charlevoix's Venetian Festival; members also recommended posting the survey in local Facebook groups for Charlevoix, Boyne City and East Jordan.
Robin Hissong-Berry announced she will miss the July meeting and asked that the committee place the futures of township transfer stations and scrap metal recycling on a future agenda for discussion.
With no public comments recorded, Vice-Chair Nemecek moved to adjourn at 10:13 a.m.; the motion, seconded by Annemarie Conway, carried unanimously. The committee will reconsider the deferred agenda items at its July 24, 2025 meeting.
