Commissioners forward sheriff’s E-911 mapping and server contracts to council, citing lower costs

County Sheriff Nick Smith told the Harrison County Commissioners on May 5 that the sheriff’s office needs two vendor contracts funded by an upcoming county-council appropriation.
Smith said Crossroads GIS Solutions, Inc. would take over maintenance and updates for the county E-911 mapping system. He said Floyd County has used Crossroads for several years and that the company’s quote was substantially cheaper than the sheriff’s prior vendor, Spillman. The commissioners voted unanimously to forward an additional-appropriation request of $10,850 to the county council for that work.
Smith also presented a Volta, Inc. quote to renew support for four Dell R640 servers used by county systems. The commissioners voted 3-0 to forward a $12,846.36 appropriation request to the council for that support contract.
Both requests were described as contingent on the county council placing the funding in the appropriate line items before the contracts could be fully executed.
The commissioners made each referral by motion (mover: Commissioner Annissa Kellum; second: Commissioner Brad Wiseman) and recorded a unanimous vote of 3 ayes and 0 nays. No dissenting remarks were recorded during the presentation.
