Harrison County Emergency Management Agency Director Mike Kurz told the commissioners April 21 that recent river flooding prompted the county to place dumpsters for cleanup; Kurz said the dumpsters "saved the county highway department time and man-hours" and that three vendors provided the service at an estimated total cost of $5,650.00.
Kurz also presented a U.S. Small Business Administration Office of Disaster Assistance No Cost Space Agreement that would allow SBA personnel to use county space to issue and assist with disaster loan applications for homeowners, renters and businesses affected by declared disasters. Commissioner Brad Wiseman moved to allow Commissioner Nelson Stepro to sign the agreement; Commissioner Annissa Kellum seconded and the board approved the authorization 3-0.
Finally, Kurz requested an additional appropriation of $2,500 to upgrade AV equipment in the county government center conference room, including removal of a whiteboard and projector and installation of four 55-inch televisions and a PA/sound system interface. EMA, IT and maintenance staff collaborated on the proposal. Commissioner Kellum moved to forward the appropriation to the county council for consideration; Commissioner Wiseman seconded and the motion passed 3-0.
The minutes record no further funding source detail or implementation timeline for the AV upgrade; the appropriation request will be considered by the county council.
