Andrew Reich told the commissioners that he, County Attorney Chris Byrd and attorney Marilyn Austin had prepared the MOU to address concerns the board had previously raised. "The memorandum of understanding lays out responsibilities for use and maintenance," Reich said. Commissioners approved the MOU and JUMA by unanimous voice vote.
The action clears the way for the project to proceed under the terms negotiated with the Indiana Department of Transportation, including the conditions the county required in the agreements. The commissioners took the vote during their regular meeting after routine claims were approved.
Next steps identified at the meeting include executing the signed documents and coordinating any required work with county staff and the Indiana Department of Transportation. The commissioners did not specify a timeline for installation or funding details at the meeting.
