Benzie County approves $425,249 in bills and several facility and emergency repairs

The Benzie County Board of Commissioners approved routine bills and multiple facility and emergency repairs during its July 8 meeting.
The board voted to pay bills totaling $425,249.29 for the period June 20–July 2, 2025; Kelly Long was present to answer questions. Separately, the board accepted a proposal from TKS Security for panic, fire and alarm upgrades at the Government Center not to exceed $13,846, to be paid from the 401 Capital Project Funds.
The board accepted proposals from Advanced Applicators to replace the home and garage roofs at EMS Station 2, not to exceed $24,000, from the 210 EMS Fund. It also affirmed emergency repairs to jail control boards by Johnson Controls totaling $14,576.81, funds available in the 213 Jail Fund; the emergency action was taken earlier by the Undersheriff and the county administrator and later affirmed by the board.
A separate budget amendment of $2,500 to the 595 Commissary Fund was approved. All motions on these items passed by roll call with all present commissioners voting aye.
The minutes list vendors and funding sources for each action but do not include project start dates or contractor schedules. The board moved on to other agenda items following the votes.
