Commissioner Bruce Campbell raised concerns during the July 8 Barry County commissioners meeting about reports of bald eagle nesting in the area of a proposed solar field. Campbell said he had contacted Consumers Energy to seek information about wildlife impacts.
Greg Moore, a Consumers Energy representative, told the board that the company monitored the projected area for the reported eagle nesting and found none. Moore also provided updates on construction activity for the project site and the company's monitoring efforts.
The board reviewed the status report; no formal action or vote on the solar project was taken at the meeting.
