Barry County accepts 2024 financial report; road commission and trial-court administrators give annual updates

Ian Rees, CPA, presented the Barry County Annual Financial Report for the year ended Dec. 31, 2024. After the presentation Vice Chair David Hatfield moved to accept the 2024 financial report; Commissioner Marsha Bassett seconded the motion and the board accepted the report by voice vote.
Jake Welch, managing director of the Barry County Road Commission, then delivered the commission's annual report. The board recessed at 10:05 a.m. and reconvened at 10:11 a.m.
Ines Straube, trial court administrator, provided a presentation on trial court funding; no formal action was recorded on the court funding discussion during the meeting.
During the reports and public-comment portion of the meeting District Director Kai Gritter of MSU Extension introduced herself to the board. A resident, Dar Leaf of Baltimore Township, spoke to the board on various local topics. Commissioners also shared community notices, including upcoming Delton events and the Freeport Homecoming Days.
Chair David Jackson reminded the board that a special meeting was scheduled for next week to discuss Drain Commission 101 and adjourned the session at 10:23 a.m.
