Committee tables emergency-alert and bridge-opening policy reviews; confirms new 911 system go‑live and meeting time changes

Rory Sherwood moved, with support from Rob Edmonds, to table Policy I‑11 (Emergency Alert System) so dispatch staff can further update it; the committee recorded that staff will bring the revised policy back for review and approval. Separately, the committee discussed Policy I‑21 (Second Avenue Bridge Openings). Eric Hamp said he will consult Shannon Smolinski for input. Rory Sherwood moved, with support from Erik Smith, to table I‑21 and resume review at the April meeting; the motion carried.
Director Kim Elkie updated members that Alpena County Central Dispatch remains fully staffed despite broader shortages of 911 dispatchers and that training on the new 911 phone system is complete. The minutes state the system is scheduled to go live March 5–6. The committee also agreed to move the April 17, July 17 and Sept. 18 meetings to a 2:30 p.m. start time to align with LEPC and LPT schedules; all meetings will occur in the Howard Male Conference Room.
