County maintenance reports ongoing building repairs, heater and boiler issues; snow-hauling plan sought

Maintenance Superintendent Wes Wilder told the committee that the county continues to experience trouble with controls at the MDOT building; engineers and Control Solutions have been engaged but Wilder had not yet received a quote.
Wilder said maintenance crews have been repairing plaster and touching up paint at the courthouse, noting the Register of Deeds office is finished and work remains in the Treasurer's Office. He said the department is one maintenance worker short and staff are managing work tickets and snow removal while short-staffed.
Wilder reported recent repairs at a 711 building: controllers and a bad sensor were replaced at about $1,500 each and a boiler inspection completed last week was satisfactory, but as of the day before the meeting a pressure valve began leaking on the boiler. Wilder said he is seeking a contractor to start hauling snow out of county parking lots and move it to the fairgrounds.
Separately, a 50% deposit was made for concrete repairs on steps behind the 911 building and the Department of Corrections; work is scheduled for early spring. Tony's Tree Service removed three trees at the health department. Fairgrounds Caretaker Holly Akins said the fairgrounds are fully booked for fair week, deposits have been received, and caretakers are pursuing a NEMCOG grant to restore the grandstands.
At the meeting, Commissioner Bill LaHaie moved to receive and file recycling reports and the motion passed with support from Commissioner Brenda Foumier. The meeting adjourned at 10:00 a.m.
