Barry County commissioners approve consent items, $3.57 million in prepaid invoices

The Barry County Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a package of consent items and payments during its Sept. 9 meeting.
The board approved the Aug. 26 meeting minutes and accepted $10,000 from Two Seven Oh Inc. to support the county’s Trap, Neuter and Release (TNR) program. The consent agenda also authorized spending up to $6,000 for repairs to the Podunk Lake dam structure. The consent motions were moved by Commissioner Marsha Bassett and supported by Commissioner Bob Teunessen and carried by an 8-0 vote.
In separate motions, Commissioner Jon Smelker moved and Commissioner Catherine Getty supported approval of prepaid invoices totaling $3,569,878.44; that motion passed 8-0. The board then approved claims in the amount of $89,395.81 (moved by Smelker, supported by Bruce Campbell) and approved commissioners’ mileage reimbursements totaling $413.00 (moved by Smelker, supported by Campbell). Both motions passed unanimously, 8-0.
The board did not record any nays, absences, recusal votes, or divided tallies on these items. Members present for the votes were Marsha Bassett, Mike Callton, Bruce Campbell, Catherine Getty, David Hatfield, David Jackson, Jon Smelker and Bob Teunessen.
The meeting adjourned at 9:33 a.m.
