Plaza Pool reports strong attendance but funding gap for Ready Set Swim; heat issues prompt maintenance checks

Kim Bolanowski, Plaza Pool Director, told the committee the pool had more than 4,000 visitors last month and that current financials show the pool about $11,000 "in the black," but she has not yet seen recent utility bills.
Bol anowski said the Ready Set Swim program is ongoing and that the Youth and Recreation grant covers Alpena Public Schools (APS) and private schools but does not fully cover APS: the program costs $9,600 and the grant provides $7,000, leaving a $2,600 shortfall for which she asked the committee to help find sponsors to cover the balance.
Bol anowski reported a heat issue in the men's locker room; Maintenance Superintendent Wes Wilder said he replaced a vent motor and will follow up with CSI to investigate continuing problems. Bolanowski also said the underwater ROV competition moved to Gaylord and that the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) from Washington State plans to rent the pool the first week of March.
The committee did not take immediate funding action at the meeting; Bolanowski said she will pursue sponsors for the program shortfall and coordinate with Maintenance on the heating repairs.
