On Sept. 16 the Barry County Committee of the Whole recommended the Board of Commissioners approve three county policies and a personnel reclassification.
Commissioner Catherine Getty moved, supported by Marsha Bassett, to recommend Board approval of policies #304 (Cash Disbursement Policy), #305 (Vendor & Tax Withholding Policy) and #702 (Smoke and Vape Free Workplace). The minutes record the motion carrying with "All ayes."
Separately, Commissioner David Hatfield moved, supported by Bruce Campbell, to recommend removing the Deputy Administrator/Finance Director from the classification system, to approve a new job description, and to approve a pay range for the position for 2025 and 2026. That motion also passed unanimously.
The committee recorded additional commissioner remarks (including condolences for the recent passing of David Dykstra) and Chair David Jackson thanked County Administrator Eric Zuzga for seeking funding approaches to cover sheriff's office body cameras and in-car cameras without major mid-year fiscal impacts. The committee adjourned at 9:43 a.m.
