Barry County committee backs $80,000 airport commitment for taxiway expansion

The Barry County Committee of the Whole on Sept. 16 recommended the Board of Commissioners approve the Hastings City/Barry County Airport board's commitment of $80,000 toward widening a parallel taxiway to 35 feet, in accordance with the Airport Commission Joint Operating Agreement.
Airport Manager Gino Lucci presented the request. Commissioner Bob Teunessen moved the recommendation; Marsha Bassett supported the motion. The minutes record the motion passing with "All ayes. Motion carried."
Lucci also invited the Board to an open house and ribbon cutting at the Hastings City/Barry County Airport on Oct. 21 starting at 3:30 p.m. to showcase the new administration building.
