Alpena County’s Personnel Committee on Feb. 4 recommended approval of a Paid Medical Leave Policy for part-time employees pending attorney review after County Administrator Jesse Osmer told the committee that a law effective Feb. 21, 2025 will affect paid medical leave requirements for part-time staff.
Osmer said the county already has a policy for full-time employees and that the full-time policy will be reviewed to ensure compliance with the new law. The proposed part-time policy was sent for attorney review to confirm it meets the legal requirements. Commissioner Todd Britton moved and Commissioner John Kozlowski supported the motion to approve the policy pending attorney review; the motion carried and is recorded as Action Item #3.
The minutes do not specify the statute name, the law’s jurisdiction, or any estimated fiscal impact of implementing the policy.
