The Alpena County Courts & Public Safety Committee approved reimbursement payments to the City of Alpena on Jan. 13 for ambulance-related supplies under the county’s Ambulance Service Agreement.
Fire Chief Rob Edmonds presented the requests and told the committee the agreement allows reimbursement up to $12,500 for drug box/drug kit restocking and up to $22,500 for disposable EMS supplies annually. The City reported it incurred $12,753.64 for drug box restocking and $34,872.99 for disposable EMS supplies; the City Clerk will provide documentation to the County Treasurer to support the request. The committee approved reimbursement at the contract caps: $12,500 and $22,500, respectively.
The motion to approve was made by Commissioner Bill LaHaie and supported by Commissioner Dan Ludlow. A roll-call vote was recorded with Commissioners LaHaie, Ludlow, Kozlowski, and Chair Lucille Bray voting aye; no nays were recorded.
Why it matters: The payments implement the county’s Ambulance Service Agreement and partially reimburse the City for emergency medical supply expenses. The amounts approved follow the contract limits rather than the higher expenses the City reported incurring.
What happens next: The City Clerk will provide supporting documentation to the County Treasurer as requested; the reimbursement will proceed per the committee recommendation.
