Alpena County amends NEMCSA lease to one year at $40,562 after math error discovered

The Alpena County Board of Commissioners voted Feb. 25 to amend a renewal lease with Northeast Michigan Community Service Agency (NEMCSA) at the District Health Department building, changing a previously approved two-year term to a one-year lease with annual rent set at $40,562.
Commissioner Lucille Bray explained that a mathematics error had been identified in the board’s November 2024 approval of the two-year renewal; the amendment shortens the lease term to one year and updates the annual rent to $40,562. Commissioner Bill Peterson moved the amendment and the board approved it on a roll call vote.
Roll call recorded ayes from Commissioners LaHaie, Ludlow, Bray, Peterson, Foumier, Konarzewski and Kozlowski; Commissioner Todd Britton was excused. The motion’s minutes reflect the amendment only; the record does not show additional conditions or a multi-year schedule beyond the one-year term approved.
The board handled the lease amendment during the regular agenda and returned later to other business; no further public comment on the lease was recorded.
