Loading...
Summary
The board approved the county treasurer's recommendation to participate in the Michigan CLASS local government investment pool so the Alpena County Road Commission can join; the vote was unanimous among members present.
The Alpena County Board of Commissioners voted April 22 to begin the process of opting the county into Michigan CLASS, a cooperative local government investment pool intended to provide safety, liquidity and competitive yield for public agency funds.
Michigan CLASS Senior Director Kristen Angel described the program and Treasurer Cindy Cebula recommended participation so the Alpena County Road Commission could invest through the county. Commissioner Bill Peterson moved to approve participation and Commissioner Dan Ludlow supported the motion; the roll call vote was unanimous among commissioners present (Commissioner Todd Britton was excused).
The board authorized staff to begin the opt-in and account-opening process so agencies that require county participation can use the pooled investment vehicle.
