The Dubois County Council on Nov. 24 approved several additional appropriations and a transfer and set meeting dates for early 2026. Auditor Sandra L. Morton presented the requests; each motion was moved and seconded and carried unanimously, according to the meeting minutes.
Among the actions the council approved were a $650,000 capital outlay appropriation from the Cum Bridge Fund for Bridge 78 (600 W near Division Road), a $50,000 General Fund appropriation for jail medical needs, $29,000 for Workman’s Compensation and $1,000 for vehicle insurance, and $10,000 for ambulance repairs. Morton also requested $60,000 from the LIT‑ED Fund for a Human Resources wage study to be performed by Waggoner Irwin Scheele & Associates; that request was approved.
The minutes record an LIT‑ED Fund appropriation for Auditor/Treasurer financial software in the amount of $257,500,000; the council approved the request as recorded. The minutes do not clarify whether that figure is a transcription error or a deliberate appropriation; the record only notes that the motion, moved by Ryan Craig and seconded by Sonya Haas, carried unanimously.
Other approved items included $29,081 from the Cum Cap Fund to upgrade courthouse wireless access points and a transfer of $957.64 in Pretrial Diversion capital outlay funds from Equipment to Other Services (promotional items). The council also gave consensus to advertise an additional appropriation from the LIT‑ED Fund of $250,000 for county employee health insurance for consideration at its next meeting.
Auditor Morton presented the 2026 Budget — 1782 Notice and reported no changes were made to the notice; the budgets, rates, and levies identified in the notice will be certified in the final budget order. The council discussed 2026 board appointments and scheduled formal approval for Dec. 15, 2025, and set first‑quarter meeting dates of Jan. 21, Feb. 23 and March 30, 2026, all to begin at 4:30 p.m. in the Commissioner/Council meeting room at the Dubois County Annex.
All motions recorded in the minutes are listed as "carried unanimously." The minutes do not provide detailed vote tallies. The council adjourned at 5:17 p.m.
