Marshall, Mich. — The FireKeepers Local Revenue Sharing Board met April 29 and took a series of administrative actions to govern its 2022 operations, elect officers and set a schedule for distributing casino net-win revenues to local units of government.
Derek King was elected chair for 2022, with Deb Belles elected vice chair, Greg Moore elected treasurer and Joe Caron elected secretary; motions to elect each officer were approved by voice vote. New Chair Derek King then facilitated the remainder of the meeting.
County staff presented and the board approved a multi-step timeline for 2022 disbursements. Key dates in the timeline include: publication of application notice by May 5, Tier 2 (specific actual increased costs) applications due May 27, public hearings on Tier 2 on June 2, a preliminary distribution presentation and approval of Tier 1 and Tier 2 amounts on June 15, final authorization of Tiers 3 and 4 on June 23, a discretionary Tier 4 grant application deadline of July 12 (if applicable) and a July 19 meeting to consider discretionary awards. The timeline references the board’s by-laws for notice and application procedures.
Kelli Scott, Calhoun County administrator/controller, described the county’s proposed administrative services agreement as unchanged from previous years: “the agreement is the same as previous annual agreements and that terms remained the same with no increase in the fixed fee of $30,000 plus the reimbursement of certain County expenses such as copies.” The board approved the agreement with Calhoun County by voice vote.
Scott also recommended retaining Gabridge & Co. to perform the 2021 audit, noting a $300 increase for a total fee of $2,950; the board voted to engage Gabridge & Co. for an amount not to exceed $2,950.
Other routine actions included approving the consent agenda (minutes from July 19, 2021, and correspondence regarding the KCC Foundation and 2022 wire payment/net pay calculations); appointing all board officers as bank signatories for 2022; and approving an updated meeting schedule that includes multiple dates in June and July. All motions were approved by voice vote.
The meeting was called to order at 10:01 a.m. by Chairman Joe Caron and adjourned at 10:20 a.m. The board set its next meeting for Thursday, June 2, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. in the Board of Commissioners Chambers at the Calhoun County Building in Marshall.
