Jacqueline Steinmetz presented an appeal from the State Board of Equalization and told the commissioners she had identified several properties that had been improved without building permits filed with Grant County. Steinmetz asked the board to approve temporary help in her office through the end of 2025 to assist with the increased workload; the board tabled the request.
During public comment resident Daniel Devitt urged the sheriff's department be fully staffed and suggested a departmental restructuring so it can provide services more effectively. Commissioners did not take action on staffing at the Oct. 15 meeting.
The appeal and the request for temporary staff remain pending; the board took no formal vote on staffing and will consider Steinmetz's request at a later meeting.
