On personnel actions related to the sheriff’s office, Sheriff Dillon requested a salary increase for Brady Palmer after Palmer completed academy training. The board initially approved raising Palmer’s salary to $45,000 effective May 1, 2025, but then passed a motion rescinding that action. Later in the meeting the board approved setting Brady Palmer’s annual salary at $49,000 effective May 1, 2025. The board also approved increasing Anthony Moore’s annual salary to $55,000 effective June 1, 2025 and set the post‑academy starting salary for sheriff deputies at $49,000. The board approved a $1,184.00 purchase of tires for sheriff vehicles from Gas & Gears (motion by Hochhalter, second by Meyer) and approved hiring Teddy Schaaf as a road department equipment operator/truck driver at $20.50 per hour with a $0.50 raise after a three‑month probationary period. The board also approved paying James Alt for 800 yards of dirt at $4.00 per yard.
On tax matters, the board approved a blanket abatement application allowing Primary Residence Credit for residences owned by trusts that now qualify for 2024 due to retroactive legislation; the motion carried unanimously.
Chairman Zenker adjourned the meeting at 1:06 p.m. The board noted future meeting dates of May 21 and June 4, 2025.
