Sheriff Dillon told Grant County commissioners on Feb. 19 that he will begin ordering equipment for a newly assigned department vehicle and will seek proposals for the installation of that equipment. He also presented a contract proposal with Tri-Cities JJDA to provide policing during the 2025 season.
During the same report, the sheriff outlined how remaining funds from the 2024 Back the Blue appropriation will be distributed: a one-time equal payment of $491.71 each to Sheriff Dillon, Deputy Moore and Deputy Dahl; $1,000 to Deputy Palmer upon completion of his eight-month probation period; and $1,000 to a new deputy hire upon completion of an eight-month probation period. The minutes record these amounts and conditions; no vote or further clarification of the contract terms appears in the minutes.
The board heard the sheriff's presentation and placed the items on the record; any procurement or contract approvals would be documented in future minutes if and when motions are made.
