Grant County commissioners approve bills, renew CD, and authorize server and GIS contracts

Grant County commissioners approved a slate of routine fiscal and technology measures at their Feb. 19, 2025 regular meeting, including payment of $19,010.14 in bills, renewal of a certificate of deposit and contracts for information-technology and GIS services.

The board, chaired by Alton Zenker, voted unanimously to approve the agenda and the Feb. 5 meeting minutes before taking up fiscal items. Commissioner Marty Meyer moved to approve payment of $19,010.14 in bills and Commissioner Al Roy Hochhalter seconded; the motion carried on a roll call vote with all commissioners voting aye. Major line items listed in the minutes included CHS Inc. ($6,796.37), NDACO Resources ($2,075.11), MDU ($1,675.13) and ITD ($1,154.45). The minutes list the full vendor roll for the record.

The board also renewed Certificate of Deposit 5495 for 13 months at a rate of 4.00%, approving the renewal on a roll call vote with Hochhalter and Meyer joining the chairman in voting aye.

On technology, the board approved a vendor quote to replace the county server after a presentation by Dwight Driscoll of the NDACo Resource Group, who told commissioners the current server is eight years old and no longer under warranty. Commissioners approved the server replacement quote on a motion by Meyer, seconded by Hochhalter.

Later in the meeting, Jackie Steinmetz presented a one‑year contract with gWorks for GIS data maintenance and a County WebGIS subscription totaling $12,225.00. The board approved that contract by roll call vote, all voting aye. Commissioners also authorized purchases for the road department, including an enclosed trailer for $5,000 and a culvert order; both motions passed unanimously.

The meeting adjourned at 12:13 p.m.; the board scheduled its next meetings for March 5 and March 19, 2025.
