Grant County commissioners approve $62,491.91 in bills, appoint Jason Albert and OK beer license

The Grant County Board of Commissioners on Jan. 8 approved $62,491.91 in county bills, appointed Jason Albert to three county administrative roles and approved a beer license and a full homestead tax abatement.
Chairman Alton Zenker presided over the meeting. Commissioner Marty Meyer moved to approve the bill payments totaling $62,491.91; Commissioner Al Roy Hochhalter seconded and the board approved the expenditure by roll call (Meyer—aye, Hochhalter—aye, Zenker—aye). Vendors listed in the payment roll included CHS Inc., John Deere Financial, Lewis & Clark Regional and the North Dakota Department of Transportation.
The action items continued in a sequence of motions and unanimous votes. The board voted to appoint Jason Albert as Planning & Zoning Administrator, Flood Plain Administrator and Risk Manager after a motion by Meyer and a second by Hochhalter. The appointment carried by roll call with all three commissioners voting aye.
The commissioners also approved a beer license for Kingdom Investors (motion by Meyer, second by Hochhalter; vote recorded as all in favor) and granted an application for a 100% homestead credit abatement on parcel 10507100 (motion by Hochhalter, second by Meyer; roll call vote unanimous).
The board opened the meeting by approving an amended agenda and the Dec. 18, 2024 meeting minutes; both procedural motions passed unanimously. The treasurer's report was reviewed during the meeting; the minutes record review but no additional action.

The meeting was adjourned by Chairman Zenker at 10:59 a.m. The board's next scheduled meetings are Jan. 22 and Feb. 5, 2025, and the courthouse will be closed for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
