Morton County Commission unanimously approves multiple abatements, IT domain migration and $6,615 sheriff grant match

The Morton County Commission met Feb. 13, 2025, at the Morton County Courthouse in Mandan and approved a slate of routine actions and funding items.
Chair Nathan Boehm presided. Commissioners Zachmeier, Buckley, Morrell and Tokach, County Auditor Dawn R. Rhone, States Attorney Koppy and Sheriff Kirchmeier were present.
The commission approved the meeting agenda, the minutes of the Jan. 28, 2025 regular meeting, and county bills and payroll. Each motion was made and seconded by commissioners as recorded and carried on unanimous votes.
The board approved a series of property tax abatements. The commission approved abatements #6672 and #6673 (moved by Commissioner Zachmeier, seconded by Commissioner Morrell); #6685 (moved by Commissioner Morrell, seconded by Commissioner Tokach); #6686 (moved by Commissioner Tokach, seconded by Commissioner Morrell); #6687 (moved by Commissioner Buckley, seconded by Commissioner Tokach); #6688 (moved by Commissioner Morrell, seconded by Commissioner Zachmeier); #6689 (moved by Commissioner Tokach, seconded by Commissioner Buckley); #6690–6693 (moved by Commissioner Zachmeier, seconded by Commissioner Morrell); #6694 (moved by Commissioner Morrell, seconded by Commissioner Tokach); and #6695 (moved by Commissioner Tokach, seconded by Commissioner Morrell). All abatements carried with all voting aye.
The commission approved a $9,515 quote from NRG to migrate the county domain from .org to .gov. The county's share of the grant-funded project was recorded as $1,470.06. The motion to accept NRG's quote was moved by Commissioner Tokach and seconded by Commissioner Morrell and carried unanimously.
The board also approved expending $6,615.25 from the Sheriff Asset Forfeiture fund as the county's 25% match for a Court Facilities Improvement Grant. Commissioner Morrell moved the expenditure; Commissioner Buckley seconded and the motion carried on a unanimous vote.
The meeting record notes that total county funds expended between Jan. 29, 2024 and Feb. 13, 2025 equal $11,892,181.32. Auditor Dawn R. Rhone said a detailed list of funds expended by check is available for public inspection during regular business hours at the Morton County Auditor’s Office.
Chair Boehm adjourned the meeting at 6:04 p.m.
