Morton County Commission approves routine agenda, tax abatements and six-year archives contract

The Morton County Commission met March 25, 2025, at 5:30 PM at the Morton County Courthouse in Mandan and unanimously approved a slate of routine agenda items and administrative actions. Chair Nathan Boehm presided; Commissioners Zachmeier, Buckley, Morrell and Tokach were present along with Auditor Dawn R. Rhone, States Attorney Koppy and Sheriff Kirchmeier.
Commissioner Morrell moved to approve the agenda and Commissioner Buckley seconded; the commission voted unanimously to adopt it. The panel then approved the minutes of the March 13, 2025 regular meeting after a motion from Commissioner Buckley and a second from Commissioner Tokach; that motion also passed unanimously.
On a roll call vote, commissioners approved bills and payroll after a motion from Commissioner Buckley and a second from Commissioner Morrell; the auditor reported total county fund expenditures of $530,897.99 for March 14–25, 2025 and said a detailed check list is available for public inspection at the Morton County Auditor’s Office during regular business hours.
The commission approved Homestead Credit abatements numbered 67456758 (motion: Commissioner Tokach; second: Commissioner Morrell) and a Veteran Credit abatement numbered 6759 (motion: Commissioner Morrell; second: Commissioner Buckley); both motions passed with all commissioners voting aye.
Commissioners also approved a contract with Vanguard for archive services of property records for six years at $3,180 per year after a motion from Commissioner Morrell and a second from Commissioner Tokach. The contract was approved unanimously.
With no further business, Commissioner Morrell moved to adjourn, Commissioner Zachmeier seconded, and the meeting ended at 5:44 PM.
