Morton County Commission unanimously approves subdivision petitions, tax abatements and $15,040 for LEC pump repairs

The Morton County Commission on May 27 in Mandan unanimously approved a series of routine actions, including Resolutions of Necessity for local subdivision roadwork, multiple property tax abatements, acceptance of an Extension Agent’s resignation and a $15,040 expenditure to replace sewage lift pumps at the Law Enforcement Center.
Chairman Nathan Boehm called the meeting to order at 5:30 p.m. and commissioners quickly moved through the consent items. Commissioner Buckley moved and Commissioner Morrell seconded to approve the meeting agenda; the motion passed with all voting aye. The commission then approved the minutes of the May 8 regular meeting and, on a roll call vote, approved bills and payroll.
The commission approved a Resolution of Necessity for Yellow Rose Estates and Howe’ln Wolf Estates (Project 2588) to install 4‑inch hot mix bituminous pavement and chip seal after noting the petition met the threshold in North Dakota Century Code 11‑11‑5.1 that at least 60% of affected property owners signed. Commissioner Tokach moved the resolution and Commissioner Buckley seconded; all commissioners voted in favor.
Commissioners also approved a separate Resolution of Necessity for Prairie Ridge Estates (Project 2589) to patch and overlay pavement with 2‑inch hot mix bituminous pavement and chip seal, again finding the petition met the NDCC 11‑11‑5.1 signature requirement. Commissioner Morrell moved the Prairie Ridge resolution and Commissioner Tokach seconded; the motion carried unanimously.
On property tax matters, Commissioner Buckley moved and Commissioner Morrell seconded to approve Trusts Primary Residence Credit abatements #7024–7114. Separate motions approved abatements #7115–7116 and #7117–7118; each passed with all commissioners voting aye.
The commission accepted the resignation of Extension Agent Allerdings and authorized posting the vacancy. Commissioner Morrell moved to accept the resignation; Commissioner Buckley seconded and the motion carried.
The board approved spending $15,040 from Law Enforcement Center capital funds to replace sewage lift pumps at the facility. Commissioner Morrell moved and Commissioner Tokach seconded the expenditure; on a roll call vote all commissioners voted aye.
County Auditor Dawn R. Rhone reported that total county funds expended from May 9 through May 27, 2025 equaled $3,884,824.76 and said a detailed list of checks is available for public inspection at the Auditor’s Office during normal business hours. The commission adjourned at 6:32 p.m.
