Summary
Council granted second reading to Ordinance #25-1017 to convey a 1.19-acre parcel near Diebold Drive for $5,950 while retaining a stormwater easement after the stormwater director verified the buyer's site plan complies with drainage function.
Sumter County Council gave second reading Jan. 28 to an ordinance authorizing the sale of a 1.19-acre county parcel near Diebold Drive for $5,950 to the owner of adjoining property, with the county reserving a stormwater easement to preserve drainage function.
County Attorney Johnathan Bryan explained the proposed conveyance and noted the county intends to maintain a stormwater easement because the property is essential to drainage flow for neighboring parcels. Alfred Conyers, director of the Sumter County Stormwater Department, reviewed the buyer's proposed site plan and verified it aligns with current drainage usage.
Councilman Artie Baker moved to grant second reading; Councilman Charles T. Edens seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The county will proceed with conveyance while retaining the easement to protect stormwater infrastructure.
