County Administrator Gary Mixon presented Ordinance #25-1026 at second reading on May 27, saying the ordinance would authorize the issuance and sale of general obligation bonds in an amount not exceeding $5,000,000. Mixon identified larger proposed allocations within the request: $630,000 for sheriff vehicles; $475,000 for other vehicles (public works, recreation, retention); $477,000 for county building improvements and IT upgrades; and $1.5 million for a gymnatorium.
Councilman Artie Baker moved to approve second reading of the bond ordinance; Councilwoman Vivian Fleming McGhaney seconded and the motion carried unanimously. The ordinance delegates certain sale and detail determinations to the County Administrator and authorizes the County to engage bond counsel and a financial advisor as needed.
