County Attorney Johnathan Bryan presented Ordinance 25‑1030 to extend Sumter County's contract with Waste Management of South Carolina, Inc. for convenience center operation and municipal solid waste collection and disposal. Bryan noted the existing contract's expiration in 2025 and recommended extension; Vice Chairman James R. Byrd, Jr. moved to grant second reading, Councilman Vivian Fleming McGhaney seconded, and the vote carried unanimously.
The extension will keep Waste Management as the county's vendor for convenience center operation and solid-waste collection pending any further contract amendments or competitive procurement processes required by county policy.
