County Administrator Tim Harper told the council on May 28 that the Duke Energy Foundation awarded a $20,000 grant to purchase and install a generator at the Lake View Fire Station.
Harper also reported that ISO ratings — which affect insurance classifications and fire-department benchmarking — were updated: Lake View upgraded from a class 6 to a class 5, while Latta and Station 4 were recorded as class 5. Results for stations 1 and 5 remain pending, he said. Harper credited coordination with E-911 Communications, Grand Strand, Trico Water, local fire departments and county staff for the improvements.
The update was presented as informational; no budget appropriation or supplemental funding vote was recorded in the minutes in connection with the grant announcement.
