Whitfield County adopts 2024 millage rates; M&O set at 4.300 mills

Vice Chairman Barry W. Robbins moved to approve the resolution, and Commissioner Greg Jones seconded. The motion carried 4-0, with Chairman Jevin Jensen and Commissioners Greg Jones, John Thomas and Barry W. Robbins recorded as voting in favor.
The action came during a special-called meeting held at the Wells Fargo Building conference room in Dalton. Earlier in the meeting Commissioner Greg Jones moved to approve the meeting agenda; Commissioner Barry W. Robbins seconded and that motion passed 3-0, with Commissioners Jones, John Thomas and Robbins recorded as voting yes. Commissioner Robby Staten was noted as absent.
The vote formalizes the millage rates the county will use to calculate property tax bills for tax year 2024. The maintenance and operations millage supports general county services; the special tax district millage applies to the county’s designated services for fire protection and solid waste management.
Blanca Cardona, Whitfield County clerk, is listed on the minutes with a date of July 14, 2025. The board adjourned by unanimous consent following the vote.
