Commission discusses concentrating 2025 LMIG funds on short roads; $1.19M grant application due

Interim County Manager Melinda Brooks told the commission the 2025 Local Maintenance and Improvement Grant (LMIG) application is due by the end of January and that the anticipated award totals about $1.19 million.
Commissioner Jon Tindall said he and County Manager appointee James Shubert inspected candidate roads and recommended selecting a cluster of short roads in the same area to reduce grader travel and increase efficiency. Tindall estimated the concentrated-area work would cost roughly $800,000. Chairman Elmer Thrift requested patching work in the Manor area that would not require full resurfacing.
The commission added the LMIG road-list discussion to the regular-meeting agenda for finalization and formal approval.
