The Whitfield County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 13 approved purchase of 11 crew-cab pickup trucks for the Sheriff’s Office from Ford of Dalton for $530,272.00 and declared older units from the Sheriff’s Office and Fire Department surplus for auction.
A bid solicitation for 11 crew-cab pickup trucks produced Option 2 from Ford of Dalton at $530,272.00 (the low and only local bidder). Commissioner Greg Jones moved to purchase the trucks; Commissioner Barry W. Robbins seconded. The motion carried 3-0.
The board also declared surplus items for auction on govdeals.com from Public Works and the Sheriff's fleet, including a 2015 Ford Police Interceptor (unit #15F125) and a 2005 International 4900 Crimson fire engine (106,502 miles, 7,779 hours). Public Works also listed older heavy equipment for surplus.
County minutes note the purchase and the surplus declarations but do not record additional financing discussion beyond the bid amounts. The procurement will be processed through the county purchasing procedures and the surplus items listed for online auction.
