The Whitfield County Board of Commissioners on Oct. 13 approved payment totaling $57,912.34 to cover elevator upgrades and new flooring at the Wells Fargo office space under the county's lease with Triple E Properties, LLC.
County Administrator Robert Sivick and Commissioner John Thomas explained the landlord arranged replacements and upgrades and the county’s lease requires the county to pay its prorated share. Commissioner John Thomas moved to approve the payment; Commissioner Barry W. Robbins seconded. The motion passed 3-1, with Chairman Jevin Jensen and Commissioners Robbins and Thomas voting yes and Commissioner Greg Jones voting no.
The payment breaks down as follows at the 71% county share: Otis Elevator change order $3,550.00; Otis Elevator final invoice $49,078.75; Carpets of Dalton upgraded LVP $3,038.04; A Better Flooring LLC installation $2,245.55. The board record shows the County is responsible for the county portion per the lease arrangement with Triple E Properties, LLC.
Commissioner Jones registered his dissent on the final vote; the minutes do not record additional comments explaining his opposition. No further action was taken at the meeting on this matter.
The board's next regular meeting will provide an opportunity for further follow-up if commissioners or staff request additional documentation or accounting for the work.
