Tift County previews consent-agenda items: equipment purchase, CDBG application and early lease termination

At a March 4 work session, Tift County staff asked the Board of Commissioners to place three administrative items on the March 10 consent agenda: a $16,875 purchase of a loader attachment with grapple for a John Deere mowing tractor, submission of a Community Development Block Grant application (Resolution No. 2025-09), and a second amendment to terminate the county lease with the Department of Juvenile Justice after the agency vacated the space early.
Public Works Director Jason Jordan said the loader attachment would be purchased from Lasseter Equipment for $16,875. County Manager Jim Carter said the required public hearing on the CDBG application generated no public comments and that staff would forward the resolution for grant submission. Carter also told the board that Juvenile Justice has moved out and the county will end the lease effective in April instead of the previously scheduled June.
The board indicated it wanted these items placed on the consent agenda; no formal votes were taken during the work session. Action and any formal approvals will occur at the regular meeting on March 10.
