Polk County commissioners approved the five‑year permit review packet for the Grady Road Landfill on June 4 and authorized submittal to the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD).
The packet updates plans and specifications and incorporates responses to EPD comments received following a 2021 submittal. County staff and the engineer revised the packet this spring; the revisions include a cover sheet summarizing minor modifications made to the landfill since the 2012 permit. The Board had earlier requested clarification because plan sheets in the prior packet did not clearly reference all post‑permit minor modifications. EPD granted the county an extension to June 30, 2024 to address comments and finalize the packet.
Commissioner Jordan Hubbard moved to approve the updated packet for submittal; Commissioner Gary Martin seconded the motion, and it passed unanimously. County staff will submit the packet to EPD in accordance with the extension.
