Polk County allocates SPLOST funds, renews lease and approves contract change order

At its June 4 meeting the Polk County Board approved several finance and operations items including SPLOST allocations, a lease renewal, and a contract change order.
The board approved a Finance Committee recommendation to allocate $15,700 from the 2020 SPLOST for equipment needed to outfit a recently acquired Police Department vehicle; that vehicle purchase had been approved at a prior meeting. Separately, the board approved allocating $20,000 from the 2020 SPLOST to purchase replacement postage machines after administration was notified that current Pitney Bowes machines will be de‑certified as of June 30, 2024 and must be removed from service by Dec. 31, 2024.
Administration recommended renewing the one‑year lease for the Georgia Department of Community Supervision at 100 County Loop Road, Suite A for $41,790 annually, with up to five one‑year renewal options. The tenant requested only minor repairs and HVAC testing; the Board approved the renewal.
The Board also approved a change order for Oasis Consulting Task Order 22 (Old Landfill Maintenance) to cover a $5,340 increase in mowing costs after a subcontractor change; Oasis agreed to split the increase 50/50 with Polk County. Motions on these items passed unanimously.
These allocations and contract adjustments will be implemented by county administration, the police department and public works as appropriate and were recorded in the meeting minutes.
