During the May 6 work session, Commissioner Donnie Hester proposed raising the county's commemorative road-naming application fee from the current $250 to $1,000 and asked staff to prepare the matter for deliberation.
"I would like to see the fee increased to $1,000," Hester said. County Manager Jim Carter responded that the clerk would circulate the current ordinance to commissioners and that the board would need to give staff direction before the item could be considered at the June meeting.
Later in the session, Carter asked the board to move into executive session for legal and personnel matters. Commissioner Donnie Hester moved to enter executive session for legal and personnel; Commissioner Paul Webb seconded the motion, and it carried 6–0 with the chairman voting. After the executive session, Commissioner Melissa Hughes moved to adjourn the executive session; Commissioner Greg Wood seconded and the motion carried 6–0. Chairman Tony McBrayer then closed the work session.
