Polk County commissioners approved renewal March 5 of an agreement with Floyd County for inmate labor and work detail services, with the contract amount increasing from $100,000 to $103,700 to reflect Consumer Price Index adjustments.
County staff noted that, even with the increase, the county could not hire an equivalent five-person crew for that cost when accounting for overhead and benefits. Public Works Director Dion Senn emphasized that inmate labor and work detail services provide useful assistance for paving and other Public Works tasks.
Commissioner Gary Martin moved to approve renewal of the agreement; Commissioner Jordan Hubbard seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
