Tift County commissioners approve consent items, reappoint two advisory members and authorize $59,110 vehicle purchase

The board also approved a three-year agreement with Turf Tank ($16,000 per year plus a one-time $1,700 upgrade fee) funded by the Tifton–Tift County Tourism Association, accepted a one-year lawn care services proposal from Service Living LLC for $116,893.15 (to be funded from the general fund), and adopted Resolution No. 2025-14 to add fees for pickleball play to the county's schedule of fees. Commissioner Melissa Hughes moved to approve the consent agenda; Commissioner Paul Webb seconded. The motion carried 5-0.
Appointments: County Clerk Miriam Jordan reported that Audrey Cromer was recommended for reappointment to the Tift County Family and Children Services Board for a five-year term (term expires June 30, 2025). Commissioner Melissa Hughes nominated Cromer and moved to reappoint; Commissioner Stan Stalnaker seconded the motion, which passed 5-0. The board also reappointed Gary McCurdy to the Southern Georgia Area Agency on Aging Advisory Board for a three-year term (term expires June 30, 2025) after a nomination by Commissioner Paul Webb and a second from Commissioner Greg Wood; the vote was 5-0.
Vehicle purchase: County Manager Jim Carter reported three bids for a 2025 GMC Sierra. The lowest bid was $57,558 from Spence Chevrolet GMC (Thomasville); the lowest bid from a local dealership (Prince Chevrolet GMC) was $59,110, which the record notes is below the 3% local vendor preference threshold. Commissioner Paul Webb moved to purchase the vehicle from Prince Chevrolet GMC for $59,110; Commissioner Greg Wood seconded and the motion carried 5-0.
