Commissioners discuss Pine Street Park improvements, animal-control staffing and Roads & Bridges equipment

Willis said she is pursuing volunteer assistance and work to update county ordinances related to animal control.
Commissioner Edwin Lovett suggested posting a list of Do’s and Don’ts on the county website and Facebook page to guide residents on handling stray animals. Commissioner Mike Dixon reported that the Roads & Bridges Department had three tractors out of service and that a contractor, Mr. Deen of L&B Land Improvements, experienced equipment issues but expected to resume work on Thursday; the board discussed contracting out grass-cutting work.
Commissioner Ben Thompson proposed changing the remainder of the year’s meeting times to 6:00 p.m. to allow residents who work mornings to attend; after a brief discussion the Board agreed to move next month’s meeting to 6:00 p.m.
Lagina Evans provided an update on the hospital (the minutes do not specify details), and Commissioner Rosa Romeo said she would keep the board informed about potential funding from the U.S. Department of Transportation.
