Sandra Dean, executive director of Beyond the Bell, briefed the Putnam County Board of Commissioners on Sept. 5 about a Boost Grant application that would support after‑school and summer programming at Jimmy Davis Park.
Dean said the proposed grant is for $105,000 and that the program would require a minimum enrollment of 51 children to receive the award. She described coordination with the Putnam County school system to provide bus transportation to Jimmy Davis Park and said Beyond the Bell would work with county Recreation staff on programming and site logistics. Dean added that grant award results are expected on Sept. 26, 2025. County Attorney Adam Nelson advised the board that no county action was required at the time of the presentation.
During public comment, Janie Reid expressed support for the grant program. Patricia Bailey read and submitted her resignation from the Jimmy Davis Park Partnership Advisory Committee during the public comment period.
