Putnam County tax board approves 36 value adjustments, removes nine homestead exemptions

The Putnam County Board of Tax Assessors met Sept. 9, 2025, in the Tax Assessors office. Chairman Shelby Storey called the meeting to order at 3:03 p.m. and the board approved the minutes from its Aug. 12 meeting in a motion by John Richter seconded by Shona Bales.
Chief Appraiser Chuck Anglin presented appeal waiver and release requests. The board, on a motion by Shona Bales seconded by John Richter, approved withdrawal requests for appeals on parcel #062-031-005 and parcel #102A-108 and applied 299C in resolving both appeals. Board member Evan Reese recused himself from that vote because of a business affiliation; signed releases were noted as attached to the minutes.
The board acknowledged an appeal it received that was postmarked after the July 7, 2025 deadline for parcel #102D-055; the appeal and accompanying correspondence were entered into the record and attached to the minutes.
Turning to real property appeals, the board unanimously approved thirty-six value adjustments and authorized mailing of the required "30-Day" notices after a motion by Evan Reese, seconded by Shona Bales. The board also unanimously approved, on a motion by John Richter seconded by Evan Reese, the mailing of fifty-three "No Change" notices and the forwarding of those appeals to the Clerk of Courts for scheduling of hearings (47 referred for Board of Equalization hearings and 6 for a Hearing Officer), with supporting lists attached to the minutes.
In a motion by Shona Bales seconded by John Richter, the board removed nine homestead exemptions based on TrueRoll flags and the board's findings; a one-page list of the removed exemptions was attached to the minutes.
The board scheduled its next regular business meeting for Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. There being no other business, the meeting was adjourned at 3:23 p.m. in a motion by Shona Bales seconded by Evan Reese. The minutes record copies of the attachments and signed releases as part of the official record.
